May 23, 2021 is the Feast of Pentecost (also called Whitsunday), affectionately known by Christians as the “birthday of the Church.” On this day, Christians remember the bestowal of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and Saint Peter’s stirring sermon that resulted in the baptism of “about three thousand persons” (Acts 2:41). This first mass conversion seeded the Church, of which we are members and beneficiaries.

This year on Pentecost, St. Mark’s is pleased and proud to welcome our regional bishop, the Right Reverend Jeff Fisher, as preacher and presider at the 10AM service. Bishops make regular visitations to each parish of the diocese. Bishop Fisher will confirm and reaffirm members of our current Inquirer’s-Confirmation Class, and we hope that all the baptized will, to the extent they are able, be on hand to mark this great occasion.

And did someone mention food, fun, and squirt guns? Yes! Join us for Splash Day immediately following the 10AM service for a luau themed lunch, water games for kids of all ages, and a large slip and slide pool combo for the “big kids.” So remember to pack your swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen (along with your Book of Common Prayer) and turn out for all this year’s Pentecost festivities at St. Mark’s!
