What to expect on Sundays
at St. Mark's
If you’re considering joining us on a Sunday morning, please know you will be most welcome. We look forward to meeting you! We have three services throughout the day on Sunday.
As you enter the Church you will be greeted at the door and handed a worship bulletin. In the bulletin you will find the order of service and the page numbers in the Book of Common Prayer and Hymnal that we will be using that day.
The bulletin also serves as a weekly devotional guide, describes the Sunday school offerings and lists special events in the parish this week. The insert in the bulletin is the scripture readings that will be used for church that day. We usually have an Old Testament, Psalm, New Testament, and Gospel reading.
Also, in the backs of the pews are vistor's cards. Please use the card to give us more information about yourself, submit a prayer request, or to have someone at the Church contact you.
Our worship is what is known as "liturgical." Liturgy literally means "the work of the people." In other words, you are no mere spectator, but a participant in the worship of the Holy Trinity...Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Our practice regarding our bodies is to stand to sing, kneel to pray, and sit to recieve.
Where do my children go?
The Nursery is open for children birth through preschool and is located in the Gilbert Building. Although children of all ages are invited to all the services at St. Mark's, our Family Friendly Service is at 10:15 a.m.
When is Sunday school?
Sunday School for all ages starts at 9:00 a.m. sandwiched by our 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services. We encourage you to join us for a cup of coffee and light breakfast in the Parish Hall and then to sit in on an adult class. Please see the bulletin for a listing of classes.
During the Christian education time you are welcome in any of our offerings. That said, we encourage guests to stop by the Info Table near the main church entrance to find out more about what is going on and to get more information on St. Mark's and the Episcopal Church. Our Greeters will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
