Treasure House: Update
The Treasure House, a resale shop run by the women of St. Mark's, celebrated its fifieth anniversary and continues to serve the community with used clothing, books, toys, decorative items and furniture.
In 2007 profits from the Treasure House and St. Mark's Chili Supper sales provided $43,000 for community outreach including Some Other Place and Ubi Caritas, two highly visible agencies that the Treasure House continues to provide financial support.
The Treasure House relies on donations from parishioners as well as the public and donations remain strong. Donations are the life blood of the Treasure House profit source and all good quality items continue to be gladly accepted. The Treasure House by its very existence is an outreach mission in that it provides a place with prices low enough that even the working poor have the dignity of choosing and paying for their own merchandise.
Cash register volunteers continue to be essential to our success. Opportunities for volunteers abound for women, as well as men of St. Mark’s.
