A. Dean Calcote
Associate Rector

   Since 1974 The Reverend Dean Calcote has been serving the people of St. Mark’s. As the Associate Rector he teaches, says the liturgy and provides pastoral care. He also serves the Diocese of Texas in a variety of ways and functions under the direction of the wardens in the absence of St. Mark’s rector. Dean is a native of Louisiana and graduate of Tulane University and the General Theological Seminary in New York City. He first served at St. Paul’s Church in New Orleans, All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg, MS, and Episcopal High School, Baton Rouge in LA, before coming to Beaumont where he served as headmaster of All Saints Episcopal School until 1998. He currently serves on the Diocesan Schools Commission, the Commission on Ministry, is the Examining Chaplain and the Christian Formation Commission of the Diocese of Texas. He is also on the Accreditation Committee of the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools and the executive board of the Julie Rogers “Gift of Life” Program.
   Dean has two children and three grandchildren. Dean likes to ride his bike and spend time with his family.

Cynthia Engle, Ph.D.

   The Rev. Cythnia Lanham Engle, Ph.D., a deacon on the staff of Christ Church of the Ascension in Paradise Valley (Phoenix), Arizona, and adjunct professor in the Fuller Theological Seminary regional campuses in California, Arizona, Texas and Colorado, has accepted appointment to St. Mark's Church.
   Dr. Engle received her Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, UK, in Old Testament in July 2006. She graduated from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA, in 1995. She was ordained deacon in the Diocese of the Rio Grande in December 2008. She previously served as Director of Christian Education at Christ Church of the Ascension and as Pastoral Assistant at Good Shepherd of the Hills, Cave Creek, Arizona.
   Known as Cindy, she is married to Lee Engle, her husband of 37 years, a musician and computer programmer. They have three adult children, and her mother lives in Brenham, Texas. She was born in Waco and grew up in Houston, Victoria and Corpus Christi. Before theological school she taught in private and public schools in Corpus Christi and the Houston area. She plays violin, and has performed with symphonies in Laredo, Corpus Christi and North Houston. She loves to garden and travel, and is a lifelong Episcopalian. In July 2009 she will travel to Israel to receive training to become a certified travel guide for that area of the world. 

Jason Ballard Lay Ministries and Evangelism Jason Ballard began pursuing his calling to vocational ministry and landed at St. Mark’s in the winter of 2009. After graduating with a B.S. in biology from Texas A&M University, Jason moved to Boulder, Colorado. There he was a pastoral intern for a church plant and a programs director at the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless. While at Texas A&M Jason was the chaplain for the Aggie Mens’ Club, a men's fraternal organization and ran cross country and track for the University. He and his wife, Jenny, met at a Christian adventure sport camp where he was the whitewater guide and she was the rock climbing guide. Jason and Jenny are enjoying their first child, a son, who was born recently.

Hannah Overall
Youth Director
In April 2008 Hannah became the permanent Youth Director after spending two years as St. Mark’s interim. She is responsible for the supervision of the youth activities for teens in grades 6 thru 12 and recruiting and training leaders for this ministry. She also assists the Christian education staff as requested. Hannah is a full-time student at Lamar University pursuing a degree in business management and pre-dental. She loves to play golf and enjoys having a good cup of coffee.

Jerome Dick
Co-Director of Children’s Ministry
Jerome is a native of Beaumont and grew up in the Episcopal church. She attended Sewanee, University of the South her first two years of college and finished her B.A. in English at the University of Texas at Austin. She worked in advertising for five years in New York and Boston before getting her law degree from William and Mary. She worked as a practicing attorney for a number of years before staying home and becoming an almost full-time community volunteer. In recent years, she has returned to a first love, teaching, as a substitute teacher. As a new Christian Education co-director for St. Mark’s.
Jerome and her husband, Bill, have one daughter, Amanda, a junior in high school. They also have two dogs and three cats. As a family, they love the beach, especially the Outer Banks in North Carolina, Seaside and the Bolivar Peninsula.


Betty Fuller
Co-Director, Children's Ministry
As of June 2009, the Rev. Betty Fuller became one of the two co-directors of Christian Education at St. Mark’s. She also serves as chaplain at All Saints Episcopal School. With two part-time positions she can be see whizzing down Delaware and IH10 daily! Born in New Hampshire and educated in Virginia, Betty is the daughter of an Episcopal priest as well as the wife of St. Mark's rector, Frank Fuller. Betty and Frank met at Virginia Theological Seminary where they were married in May 1974. She is the proud mother of Mary and Will.

Ginger Clark
Rector's Secretary
Ginger manages the front office of the church. She assists the Rector with all of his correspondence and responsbilities. She coordinates communications, church events, takes calls from parishioners, keeps the church calendar and manages the prayer list.
   A native of Beaumont, Ginger is the mother of twin daughters. She also has a granddaughter. Two more grandchildren are expected to arrive this summer. Formerly she worked as an administration assistant in the human resources department at Baptist Hospital. Prior to that she was long-time assistant to parishioner Frank Eastman.
   Ginger loves being a grandmother, doing arts and crafts, shopping, traveling and playing with her granddaughter...wait, did she already say that. We'll it's worth repeating because she is crazy about her grandbaby.

Jan Blessing
Business Manager
Starting in 1995 Jan counts and prepares deposits, records contributions, prepares payroll and accounts payable checks. She prepares financial reports and reconciliations. Jan also produces worship bulletins and does other duties as assigned. Jan loves dogs and has dog she rescued named Rudy. She watches Sci-Fi movies and loves the art on her office wall – masterpieces from her younger friends. Be sure and ask her about her “dot” collection.

Tim Conway 
Facilities Manager
Tim began serving as a nighttime monk at St. Mark’s in 1988. Currently he holds the position of Facilities Manager coordinating and supervising all the sextons and performing maintenance on the church facilities, grounds and hardware. He schedules repairs and oversees outside contractors. He also sets up for the day-to-day activities that occur at the church from bridge luncheons to AA meetings to parish-wide breakfast on Sundays. Tim also provides preparations for weddings, Wednesday night events and other special events has needed and assigned. When not working Tim likes to travel, grill great food and garden. He loves to tell the story of catching possums in the church with a fish net so ask him about that.
